Russell Beck elected President-Elect of the Boston Bar Foundation

Russell Beck has been elected President-Elect of the Boston Bar Foundation.

The Boston Bar Foundation’s 2019-2020 leadership team includes President Diana Lloyd of Choate Hall & Stewart, LLP, Treasurer Stephen P. Hall, of Holland & Knight, LLP, and Secretary Suma V. Nair of Goulston & Storrs PC.

Founded in 1957, the BBF is the charitable affiliate of the Boston Bar Association with a mission to promote justice by funding and promoting innovation in legal services, enhancing access to justice for the underserved, and supporting the public interest activities of the bar.

The Trustees oversee the support of the many programs the BBF funds throughout the year. BBF funds are used to support BBA public service and pro bono projects, educational and professional development programs for lawyers, public education,  and diversity and inclusion initiatives. This year, the BBF also awarded more than $1 million dollars to nineteen area nonprofit organizations that provide Boston’s most vulnerable residents with legal representation and services.

  • Teaching Trade Secrets and Restrictive Covenants at Boston University School of Law
  • Founding and administrating the award-winning blog, Fair Competition Law
  • Establishing and administrating the Noncompete Lawyers and Trade Secret Protection groups on LinkedIn, with over 1,600 members around the world
  • Founded and chaired the Trade Secret / Noncompete Practice for an AmLaw 100 firm

In addition, Russell was honored for his work in this area of law in the 2019 Chambers USA Guide, which stated that Russell Beck is a “terrific” attorney, who “is an excellent choice of counsel regarding noncompete agreements and the resolution of restrictive covenant disputes.” Chambers noted that Russell “basically wrote the new Massachusetts statute on noncompetes” and that “he’s an expert in employee mobility and nonrestrictive covenants.”
